Hi all
If you were going to scratch build a static 1/72 USS Missouri, with the understanding that it may have to be moved occassionally, would you build it full hull or waterline? Why?

Does your transportation method have a height restriction that may be exceeded if you were to build full hull?
A waterline hull would be easiest to stabilize and store, though a full hull in this scale would be heavy enough to be unlikely to roll side-to-side anyway.
How good is your water-making ability? A waterline model would look out of place unless placed in some artificial water.
A waterline base may or may not take more room than a full hull base, depending on how much water you wish to depict.

Hi,
Space/size for transport is not really an issue, we own a large van. It would definately be at anchor in calm seas if i was to waterline it, but every large scale ship model i see seems to be full hull. I would prefer to build it waterline i think, but just dont want to make the wrong choice. A nice sturdy base/chassis with handles is attractive.

Check out Bill Waldorf's excellent builds of large-scale waterline models:

As you can see, perfectly doable to excellent effect.
