Model of battleship Roma at Naval Museum in Venezia (Italy)

Post by Jean-Paul Binot »

Great museum in the former arsenal of the Venetian republic, with some high quality models of naval units of the Italian navy. Particularly worthy is the outstanding model of the battleship Roma, that took 20 years to build. A pure gem, that I tried to cover from all angles with the modeler in mind.

Also commendable is the fine model of SMS Novara, the Austro-Hungarian light cruiser if WW1.

I believe her to be 1/100 scale

In addition to the photos shot by JPB

have a look here also

4 pages of images @ 1380 wide

http://www.nikonland.eu/foto/showgallery.php/cat/637

I used this model along with the 1/100 scale plans extensively when I built my Roma( axis kit)

and this masterpiece in timber
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=65397

is I believe, also utilising some of these images as a ref....

The model is simply perfect-I have looked long and hard and have not found a single flaw!!! :thumbs_up_1:

Indeed. A magnificent model in every respect. And ideally displayed as well, on its own and totally accessible. You can actually see the model under every possible angle. And flawless it really is. Awesome and humbling...

Outstanding model and excellent timing for posting the link to the photos, I would bet a lot of guys will be saving either the link or all the photos as they will certainly be very useful when the kit is available.

Thanks for posting them.

An don't forget Barbieri's model of Roma, quite possibily the finest model of a 20th century ship I've seen.

Anyone think the large number of boats onboard and one automobile and truck is a bit unusual?

Nevermind I just read in the Barbieri link that they were aboard.

Tediously the Nikon-land link I supplied no longer works-the site has evaporated!

HOWEVER...
I did download most of the images--and can supply these to anyone who wishes to e-mail me.

There us also a 150 or so image CD available from Regia Marine ( Giampeiro)
