Thanks ARH and Dave for the kind words. Dave, I can't wait to join the fleet out there the Pittsburgh won't be the only ship from my dockyards I will also be bring the USS Missouri MS 32 / 22d 1944 and the USS Yorktown MS 33 10A late 1944, but my main goal right now is solely on the Pittsburgh. Today, I complete stripped the Missouri of all her decking and going to redo her from frame works on up. yorktown, I might do the same thing, havent decided yet on her. but I will keep all of you updated on the work on the Pittsburgh and the Missouri. All my ships are in 1/96th scale, built on Scale Shipyard hulls, the flight deck might be getting redone in lexan instead of basswood. I'll post more pics this weekend of the Yorktown.

Nice to see another 1/96 Carrier in the making. You are doing a nice job of it Chad and are a bit further on I should think, than I am with the Victorious. Where did you get your Aircraft?

Thank's for that Chad, I may be able to make use of some of those, as the Vic did have Avenger's at one stage in her career.

Beware the prices!!! At 1/96, they might go sky high if you decide to add more than a couple...That�s the reason I build 1/72...

I know what you mean Johan, but these particular aircraft from Sirmar, are around �8 each, according to Paul of PSSHIPS. I will only need half a dozen all told, so may order a couple to get me started, in the next few weeks.

I'm only puting maybe 20-30 planes on mine, half on deck and half in the hanger deck. But right now i'm redoing the hanger deck, new flight deck and hanger bulkheads, the flight deck is half done, hanger bulkheads are cut, now alll the hanger dors ned to be cut out, hopefuly the yorktown wil look like a carier here by tomorow night. wil post pics later on. 20 to 30 planes would cost me over �200 at around �8 per plane and besides, the Vic's hangar is fully enclosed, not having side elevators, so there is no point in having planes in the hangar. Just six or maybe eight at the most displayed on deck is my limit. One suspended on a short piece of piano wire, coming into land at the after end, is one theory I am thinking about. One on the catapult, one on the front lift, with wings folded and three or four parked up on deck. Each plane may have a few figures around them, doing various tasks such as loading torpedos or working on the fuselage, just as in a diorama, as well as flight deck staff scattered around the flight deck and crew on the open bridge. These of course will be the finishing touches to the completed model.

That is one reason why I wanted to build a Carrier, you can add lot's of detail, to make it resemble a fully functional model.

Well here are a few updated pics of the yorktown all of the wood decking was removed and replace with 1/8" polycarbonate sheeting, and i used 1/16' polycarbonate for the flight deck and the bulkheads, bulkhead will not be installed until the move to california is complete and construction will continue on her. All the bulkheads are cut out but need some clean up work.

Here is the foward elevator and surrounding compartments not yet finished.

Thanks, Tony for the comments but right now all building as come to an end.........for the time being. All my ships are boxed up ready for their 2000 mile journey, to join up with TF96, yorktown will be the first to be water ready, then the pittsburgh and finally the MO. been looking through Lees' catalog and trying to decide my next one, so many to choice from, might do anothe MO modernized 1991 or maybe USS Indiana, or i'll wait until James m finishes with the master for the Alaksa class battle cruiser and do the Guam.
