USS New Jersey - World War II to the Persian Gulf - Rare?

Post by johndon »

Is this a particularly rare book?

I've just had a copy of this book delivered from a seller on Amazon.co.uk for the grand total of 20.47 (around $33) including shipping. Having looked on both Amazon.co.uk again and Amazon.com, current second hand prices range from $125 to $276 so it would appear I've got really lucky :woo_hoo:

Great book although the title is a bit misleading as it covers the reactivation and deployment for Vietnam only, no mention of WWII, Korea or the Gulf...

If you're referring to this book, I don't think it's rare as such, though looks interesting.

That's a good deal cheaper than Amazon are listing it for...

Speaking of the Iowa class, I just received this book recently; reasonably inexpensive, and quite interesting.

The above referenced book was a great companion book to this title from Zenith books. I have to wonder if they also did the Wisconsin and New Jersey at war? If they did, I may have to hunt them down too. Not trying to jack your thread, but Iowa class stuff is so cool.

So, does anybody know if Zenith ever did the other two books? A quick Googling, and a visit to Motorbooks yielded nothing.

Thanks guys,
Kevin

It seems like I had the New Jersey at war book at one time, but I might just be having a "senior episode". Would you recommend the book you mentioned in post #1 for detail shots, or is it primarily just operational stuff?

Most of the pics are operational stuff with the best pics of the ship itself mostly focusing on the forecastle. All the pics are specific to her reactivation for Vietnam.

OK, thanks. I've been gathering all the data I can get for my scratched Missouri turret, but probably have more than enough now as it is.
