Questions for weapons in Ms 21 camo

Post by D Burger »

I'm new to this forum and I'm currently working on the 1/144 Fletcher in Ms 21 camo......what color should the 20mm's, and the 40mm's be done in?

Guns themselves in gunmetal. Everything else; mounts, shields, etc., in Navy Blue.

To add onto this thought, was it the same for 32/3D? Like wise what was the color of the inside of the splinter shields on the 20mm and 40mm?

Thanks,
Gabriel

"to match the camouflage." Some ships matched the pattern on the inside, some didn't.

I have seen photos of early 1942 BENSON-GLEAVES destroyers with the small "sloshes" Ms 12mod pattern painted on the "INSIDE" of the 20-mm bulwarks where NO ONE except the crew would see it. Also, remember that most 40-mm "tubs" were lined with ready reload racks and covered with protective canvas.

Tracy, would this hold true for a Gleaves in M32/3D? The few pictures I have seen it is hard to tell but the look like they MIGHT be 20B like the deck. If they are gun metal, that leaves me with two questions:

The area where the recoil is absorbed, and the flash supressors are usually black in modern photos. Would this hold true in WWII?

What would be a good match for the gun metal in acrylic?

Thank you in advance,
Gabriel
