model paints v's modern colour equivalents

Post by Anonymous »

Hi all

I read with interest the post further down where Spunk-Y was asking about the colours of the USS New Jersy and user Vlad said: Modern fit: Modern USN Haze grey sides, Modern USN Dech grey decks, Teak for wood decks.

My question: who makes the equivalent colours? Model Master? Humbrol?

I understand White Ensign do but availabilty in the Antipodes(that's The Great Southern Land) is questionable.

Is Tamiya acrylic a good match as well.

Thoughts and help very much appreciated.

Before I discovered WEM I though Humbroll #64 was a very good match for modern haze gray. Having used WEMs I can say #64 is very very close. Not too sure about the deck. I used to have Revell #77 for that purpose. If you want I can take pictures of an old 1:700 USS Normandy I have painted in Humbroll #64 and Revell #77 and you can see what you think.

also, if anyone out there thinks I'm very badly wrong, feel free to correct me.
