Decided to get back to work on the 1124 .I brushed of the dust then fine sanded it .I will now wax it then start the mold .Stand by . :wave_1:

It's been over three years since I stopped working on the 1124 .I just dusted of the dust and getting ready to wax the hull in order to start the mold .Stay tuned . :lol_3:

Gantu, sorry to interfere, I just want to clarify which 'plan from armada' you mean - G-5 or BK 1124/1125 (I do not know any armada plans for BK 1124/1125 if there are some can you give a link?).

If you talk about G-5 I would be interested in your opinion about Dom Bumagi 1:100 paper model - whether those are accurate? I saw several quite accurate builds on Russian forums in big scale (one for example http://forum.modelka.com.ua/threads/53272-?????????-?????-?-5 or may be it is yours? :cool_2: )- each of them based on both Armada plans and Dom Bumagi paper model.

Interested in your opinion.

be carefull of the plan from armada those are not accurate i try a long time to get originals plans from the navy museum in st. pertersburg but no luck till now. If you need some more informatiuona about the BK 1124/1125 let me know.

I would be glad to start a new post on AO-22 Cimarron .I will make a fiber glass hull and he will build the ship .I need to have the hull done by Sept 11 so we can have the motors installed for the NC Model Ship Builders Fleet Run in Oct .Stay Tuned . :big_grin:

The work on the 1124 will have to be put on the back burner because I have been commissioned to build a hull of the T-3 tanker AO-22 Cimarron .Looks like I won't make the model contest this Nov but they have on every year .

This is how I will do the rivets . :heh: I I was going to try the method discribed by Yevgenity but at my age my hands are not as steady as they used to be .

There are four plates still stacked together .I will drill through all four and into the hull .Then seperate them and move to the next position ,using the drilled plate as a template . :big_grin:

Just in case you are interested there is a gentleman building G-5 in 1:10 for RC http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8151591/tm.htm I have it in my files for reference.

There is a paper model from Dom Bumagi in 1:100 - from what I see on your hull and on their paper model they have more ribs for the hull.

I started a G-5 for Don at Loyalhanna but ran into some problems .I forgot the scale but it is fourty-five inches long .

The problem I have ls there are only four bow station lines on the body lines.These are the ones I need .

I want to make it but have to start over .If I can get plans I can make it bigger .Can anybody help ? :huh:

Hi, Richard,

Yes the hole at the needle is supposed to leave a rivet. However the needle shall be large enough for big rivets (may be some tube of larger diameter) and one has to control that the 'inside' of the needle is clean and not clogged after each rivet. If you try it could you please describe your experience as I said I have not tried it yet.

My dream boat is G-5 :smallsmile: First I thought about it in 1/35 (scratch or wait for some modeling company to do it - there were rumour it is under construction) but watching youtube RC videos I understood that even 1/20 is too small for my liking :smallsmile: So I think about it in 1:16. Have to make some more simple things before it to build up skills - in order not to loose guts at the middle of big and complex project.

That is a good idea .I willl have to try it .At first I thought it would just leave a hole but then realized the hole in the needle should make a rivet head . :woo_hoo:

As to riveting which would be also my fate with bigger RC boat projet I have in mind - did anyone try a method of making rivets by hot soldering iron which I have read from aviation modeling. To keep it short this presumes drilling a small hole in iron tip for a syringe needle with cut-off tip/small tube (with diameter corresponding to that of a rivet), inserting the needle into the iron tip (it shall sit firm in such a hole), priming the hull with automotive primer or liquid putty, letting it dry and making rivets with 'hot syringe needle' over the primer/putty. Read about it but did not try yet - sounds easier then drilling holes and making individual rivets...But as I said I did not try so can recommend using over a spare piece of plastic which I will do.

I am going to do it different now .I don't think the plates are thick enough to hold the rivets so I will have to drill the hull also .What I will do is glue the plates to the hull with a photy copy on each one .Then clamp the hull to the big mill and drill each one going into the hull at the same time . :smallsmile:

IS a goog technic to puncture in te same place in one time...
i glue my plates with double face.....
