Re: Just a quick solution to making cable reels.

What a simple idea! It is amazing how the simplest things do not come to mind, until you are shown!

Thanks for that, I will have plenty of uses for that. Might even try wrapping fishing line round and see how that goes - it should produce very fine 'hose/cables' ideal for 1/700.

Thanks again, kind regards, Ray

What are your favorite colors to paint the copper wire? Mine are black and Floquil Concrete.

Great technique! Wish I had read this before I did the reels on my current model!

I used the same method last year. Also for thick hose, you can wrap the core with solder wire:

It just seems to make sense hey? I kind of figured I wasn't the first! Your England looks great BTW....great job with the dazzle camouflage.
Just chop another wire slice off the old cable loaf. :surfer:

Glad someone else uses the same method I did on my England!

Neat idea!!! It never dawned on me to make a whole roll of them and then just "cut to fit"

I'll have to remember that now :thumbs_up_1:

Just a quick little solution many of us use for making cable reels.

While holding the wire, touch it with some thin CA glue. This will bond everything in place.
