The last one I built before I started Helena, she's in completed models on this site, there's still a little work to be done, I stopped work on it when I first took bad ,over 2 years ago.

Have to say those are some really nice models. Served 3 yrs in New Bedford,MA on the Unimak and then 2yrs at a small boat station in the UP of Michigan. When I went to DC school I saw a '95 ft Cape class at Yorktown,finally was able to purchase the Revell kit. Going to have to start that soon.

Yup, that's what I have. I also have the Revell 1/400 or so scale kit of the Taney, a buddy of mine gave me a model of the Taney that an Uncle of his had put together as a kid. I think I'm going to do my Taney kit as the BiBB since that cutter tied up in the same home port as the Unimak.

I've finished the first two production ships (out of eight in the first run). These will be available around Sept. 1 for US $775. I'm awaiting some custom photo-etched brass for railings. More details later.





These will also be available as full hull models.

125' looks great .Were did you get the pans for it ?

I believe I got the scantlings from the US Library of Congress "Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record." Otherwise it was the Historical Naval Ships Association. Sorry I'm not more specific, as I downloaded the scantlings and renamed it, so I could find it on my computer. The L of C section has complete drawing of the Southern Pacific tug "Hercules," and a number of others.

I derived the superstructure from profile photographs and one straight on bow photo. Other spacings can be derived by observing items like rescue boats, which have a known length.

It was turned over to the Coast Guard and was eventually picked up by the foundation for restoration. Her home port is Tacoma, WA. They would appreciated any information they can get. Thanks.

Are there still any USCG cutter fans out there? I'm making one in CAD for 3D printing in both 1/350 and 1/700 scales. Specifically, I am making USCGC Bertholf (WMSL-750) and am thinking about posting my work to date, if there is any interest out there.

I would be interested in seeing your work on the Berholf .I will be making a fiberglass hull of Berholf in 1/48 scale at the beginning of the year .

I know that it is some time since you started this post but i am also interested in building a 1/35 scale model of the island class cutters. I have the builders plans, a large sheet of the line drawings and deck plans, plus 6 smaller sheets of the internal layouts. If anyone has any helpful suggestions regarding such a build they would be very much appreciared, also any photos of these boats would be helpful. I do have some pictures taken of the internet plus some sent to me by ex uscg personell who have served on these boats. I am also happy to share the plans if anyone is interested. I have built the hull framework but realised that by the time i plank it it will be oversize so have to start again.

I haven't learned to post pictures yet.

I've also got 1/700 resin waterline kits of the Point Class 82-foot Cutter for interested Micro-maniacs!

I did! Casting these in Smooth-on liquid polyurethane plastic continues.
A lot has happened here since 2016. Except my photo-posting skills remain similar.
Resin USCG cutter kits include 1/700 Island class, 1/350 and 1/700 Point class WPB's, 1/700 USRC cutter Caleb Cushing,

1/700 USRC Caleb Cushing

and a recent release of 1/350 USCG Reliance class WMEC with waterline and full-hull options.

Work continues on 1/700 USCG Reliance class and Thetis class 165' WPC (B) cutters and an AG-25, USS Potomac version of the same hull. I wonder if Tim will allow posting a link to my website? tlarmodels.com

1/350 CGC Active, WMEC-618 got her finishing touches and made her model contest debut at Hawkcon 2024 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa last weekend. She did well as you can see.
From this 1/350 kit any Reliance class WMEC can be built, from 1966 to last month. Waterline and full hull options are included.
