Another week on
Worked on the rear superstructure .
Reduced the mad riveter's rivets , added some plating lines on the deck , completed the searchlight and range finder deck . had to construct the supports from brass as the resin ones were poor . Added ladders and PE railings ( not included ) and scratched the rear director as it came without .
Cleaned up the nice 4" guns and mostly completed the assembly for now .
Moved onto the main superstructure, without instructions or location pins it's all measure 3 times and glue once. Using small amount of CA glue for initial fit , and then running diluted matte liquitex to give a better bond .
Added plating lines , and also add plates where the boat rests (presumably) were removed , as much to give some interest. Also cleaned the rear area of fake playing and overdone davits .
For some reason and without any reference to the reality, SSM decide to make the front of the lower bridge square not round ....so corrected that
Replaced the oversize resin barrels on the turrets with metal ones , need a bit more work to complete
The anchor chains etc are all a copy from Iron duke not Conqueror so had to correct that too , as the chain capstans needed to be in a line not stepped as SSM would have you do it . Also made chain guides from 0.2 styrene .
Feel I'm making steady progress so far , having worked out how the bridges fit together and decided to scratch the tripod , next week would in interesting
Also need to think about the sea it's going to fit in and resolve that before the model becomes too delicate to handle without doing damage.
