thank you all for your interest and your very kind comments!

I found some time today to apply the decals on HMS Shearwater. After a coat of future, applied last weekend the decals fit well. Instead of water I use allways Micro Set and Sol to aplly the decals.

I also start working on a motor barge, casted by my modeling friend Andreas Krause from my matser model. I add a capstan, portholes, a weelhouseand, additional stringers and the cover for the hold. Mhh, may I add the barge to HMS Glowworm or to HMS Shearwater, I will look for the best fit when she is finished.

Start painting some of the GHQ vehicles for my Shearwater diorama last weekend, I paint some more today because it is really fun to paint the small vehicles. Next to this three ones a Scammell tank transporter is waiting for some paint. I did not knwo what I will do with these ones but time will tell

Shearwater is nearly finished. Today I found some time to wash and highlight the model. I used Vallejo washes for the first time. They work well, but it isn't easy to find the right touch because of the white paint of the model.

I applied also some rust (can't withstand), to show Shearwater as a lot of hard used RN warships looked like - dirty! As usual I used oil paints to apply the streaks along the hull and on some areas of the upper works.

There are only some corrections to do, some small parts, boats, davids, dc etc., some figures and the rigg.

By the way, GHQ isn't naval but it's cool. You only have to paint the white metal cast models - pure fun! Last weekend I finished a Scammal Tank Transporter

@Anthony, thanx for you kind comment - what do you have on the slipway? By the way, I paint some more dirty streaks along the hull.

The Lt. and the Cox are now aboard, well it is time to close the bridge and to add the compass platform.
Some historic fact, none less than Lt. Nicolas John Turney Monsarrat RNVR, the author of The Cruel Sea commanded HMS Shearwater between March and October 1943.

The finished bridge, as you can see the boats are in place too. The two fellows sitting at the quay in the background are still waiting to see her finished

Last but not least, the stern section is also nearly finished. The vessel has a huge load of DC for its size. Hope to rigg and man her next weekend.

Christan - WOW!! I've been lurking in the shadows following this build and I had to comment. Beautiful work! It gets better the more I look at it! Love the tiny vehicles, too! Excellent paint job on them as well - they look like 1/35tth scale models!

Hello Gentleman,

I have been away from my ship modeling yard because there was a lot of real work to do since last year November.

Still a lot of work to do I spent a first day at the workbench to make progress with some models.

At first I paint the hull countershading of my WEM Faimile D. The deck need to be hand painted but that should be a work for tomorrow!

Secondly I finished my first scratch build project - the small motor barge. The barge is painted by airbrush and brush. I add some oil drums, an anchor david, a small anchor and a canvas cover made of lead foil.

I will add the barge to a diorama with two Short Sunderland flying boats. On one of the Sunderland I replaced one engine to make a small repair scene - more will follow soon!

Lovely work as always.. I really like everything, but I love your Sunderland ideas! Don't forget to displace the flying surfaces (ailerons, rudder etc)

I'm looking forward to your HMS Montgomery as I justed completed a conversion of it to HMCS Annapolis. I took a careful look at enhancements to the model last fall.

@Anthony, I will do my very best I plan to show the Sunderland at her mooring while the crew makes an engine maintanance. Therefore it was a common practice to add a platform to the wing leading edge.
The wonderfull diorama by Luis Carabott shows the platform to the outer starbord engine.

@George, Montgomery has to wait until I have finished the Fairmile but she is next again on the workbench! Do you have some photos of your Annapolis?

Some more progress on my Fairmile. Today I have finished the dack painting. At first I paint the main surface and after that I used a small brush to paint all the edges. I used Valajo Model Color Field Blue No. 946 to simulate the B15 deck color. Now a little bit of washing and highligting, and the boat is ready to assamble.

I took some pictures of HMCS Annapolis today before I put it into the display cabinet. I will down size them and put them into the "Completed" section soon. I enjoy your work, WWII escorts, etc. as that is my speciality.

Among other things I found some time to make more progress with my Fairmile D. I have planed the diorama setting as shown with the Fairmile sailing along a stone wall. On top of the wall is a road frequented by some GHQ stuff. Some more details will follow until the base is finished.

Another �small project� I have started for a couple of month is a Trafalger Class Sub at the quay on her mooring. Some Leyland trucks, containers and some more stuff fill the place along the quay. This is also the first setting and I think about to add a small building?!

I used to have around 600 of those small GHQ tanks.They pack incredible detail for their size.If only they were slightly bigger to go with 1/350 ships.
Your small dios are very atmospheric and inspirational.The nice painting makes them very attractive vignettes.

some more but slow progress on MTB794. I thought for a while what to do with the setting, because the quay looks to empty with only some vehicles on it.

A small building would be fine. Because buildings in scale 1/350 are not available some plastic card must help. Trying to work as an architect a small sketch shows how the building should look like to fit well to the diorama.

I used 2.0mm plastic card for the walls. I marked door and windows and cut them out by drilling a whole in the center of each window. The rest was filled with triangular and flat files. Ornaments where made from rectangular plastic rod.

For a dry house I should add a roof. But this is some work for the roofer
