1/200 Bismarck. Part 2. The aft superstructure.

Hallo, friends!
Let me begin the new part of posts about my work.
The aft superstructure isn't ready yet - so, it will be posted step by step, as soon as ready.
Also I change a little bit a style of my accounts.
A history and what I have for today:
Pic.1 - It was time and time ago - when I followed the Hachette's recomendations.
Pic.2 - Then the superstructure was modifired a little bit.
Pic.3 - The modern view of the superstructure.
Pic.4...6 - The close views of the "floors" of the superstructure.

About the wood what I used for decks - I took it from schoolpupil rulers. I don't know exact what wood is it, but I think it is a pear or somthing like pearwood. The wood ruler is hard enough and keeps its form very well.

Thank you for sharing the construction technique. Looks to be a very stout build which should hold up,well over time. Could you share the method of laying the deck, are these individual pieces or scribed into the surface somehow?

Hi, Tom!

I used separated planks for the deck and a epoxy glue. There is a picture where you can see the process. The deck's thikness is 0,75 mm after gluing and 0,5 mm after sanding.

The decks look great! I especially appreciate that you are putting in the margin boards - nice detail and a lot of work.

How did you create the "tar" between the boards?

Some have run a black marker along the side of the board before gluing it down. Anatoly has certainly achieved a nice effect in this scale!

The use of a table type saw would be a good way to do this with precision! Not too easy to work with such small pieces!

Hello everybody!

There is a short step ahead.

pic.1 - the side parts of the aft superstructure were covered by aluminium 0,2 mm
pic.2 - the catapult's base was formed
pic.3 shows the "aluminization" process
pic.4 - the close view of the main hangar
pic.5 - the result of my probes with lacquers- the deck is matt and sandygrey.

Great work! Please remind that the deck behind the aft command post was steel, not planked.

Yes, Bernd, it was steel surface (the Tirpitz had planked deck in the area)
But there is a question: was the steel deck behind the aft command post smooth or seamy (anti-slipp) ?
Please, give me a answer, if you know.

I did.
I redid.
I overdid.

Pay attention that storm lids are closed (the reference time for my model is 24.05.1941, 5:50)
