I get lots of wire in the fishing department of a good sporting goid stote...used for fly tying. .006" is easy to find.

Get a cheap set of ear buds at a dollar store. You can usually find wire in the down to .002"

I hadn't even thought about cannibalizing electronics.

If you get a cheap electric motor, you can also cannibalize the windings for wire that is .002" (maybe smaller).

I'm looking for some thin wiring for hydraulic lines for 1/48 aircraft. Is it soft?

Never used the once from Freetime. For hydraulic lines or such I am using lead wire. You can get these at the fly-fishing departement.

For rigging I am using different threads.
