I'm not sure if you saw this post or not: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=162889&start=160#p704281 That is pretty much all the information we have on the underdeck support pillars. As EJ pointed out, they seem to have been placed under boat crutches (but possibly elsewhere as well). We also made a few more inputs shortly after that post (some minor things regarding the bridge). I wasn't sure if you had seen them or not (it may be too late to incorporate those).

Yep I understand. this matter also will be passed to modellers.

And if there was any good photo of main choke, it would be helpful.

I would like to ask Kim a question..

Do any of the 200th scale Pontos sets include portholes for the hull? I have the Bismark top set in the mail, the hood set on pre-order and will also get the Rodney set. Do these sets contain porthole etch?

If these sets don't have porthole etch, would Kim consider marketing frets of portholes only? AFAIK, the only alternative is Tom's?

You can see the etch on Pontos' website and can see the porthole parts on the boat frets: http://pontosmodel.com/html/23001f1.html

Kim,

Is that supposed to be one of the large fairleads? There were two very large ones on the bow and a smaller set on the stern. In both cases, the shapes were somewhat different than your parts. One portion started outboard and then pointed inboard. The other portion stared inboard and pointed outboard. Each upright portion was opposite from the other. Please see the images below:

Hopefully someone else can provide a photo of a fairlead from a better orientation than those seen in my photos.

Thanks Tim, so that confirms my thoughts that "maybe" the Bismarck has them.. I'm sure from Channels build the Rodney has no hull portholes as he mentioned Toms, and I wonder if Hood will have them?

I have a few of the 1/192 Toms ones in the stash, but am not sure they'll be OK on diameter?

Sorry but all this nit-picking has done for the average modeller out there is delay the release of the set and drive the price of the set up. Not everybody gives a hoot about many of the details bought up in this thread. I think Pontos has been extremely patient sbout all these requests, many of which would be easily fixed with some scratch building, not relying on Pontos.

A big thank you to Mr Kim and his patience.

I understand your sentiment Warren, but whilst the release has been delayed, the price is still very much in keeping with Pontos Models' other 1/200 warship sets. Furthermore, whilst many of the posts have been by Frank and EJ with details of the real HMS Hood, the volume of correspondence I'm getting from eager customers suggests that there are a large number of people who are quietly very excited about the prospect of getting such an accurate set.

Historically, I've seen people discuss Pontos Model as a preferred vendor, but rank others as about the same and ultimately buy on price. Kim has indeed been patient, and whilst his development cost has gone up, but Hood remains a hugely popular subject. Customers reading here, but not necessarily commenting can all see that this set stands head and shoulders above the alternatives on the market - largely because the others have not had the same input from subject matter experts like Frank & EJ from the knowledge and wealth of references they have accumulated.

Sure there will be some eagerly bought but as yet unstarted kits owned by people awaiting this set. Good things come to those who wait and all that :)

I am absolutely positive that this set will be worth the wait :thumbs_up_1:

That is closer to the actual shape Mr Kim.

Is there anything else you need before this set can be completed and ready for production? Apparently, I'm upsetting some of the folks out there by causing delays. I don't want to cause any further delays, so if there are any last bits of information you need, please let us know.

Thank you all for your patience.
In really all you with Frank and EJ have made this project delayed 2-3 months.
But we would sell this set for coming 40years or more. So this delay is no problem.
We are just sorry that it makes you loose the present from Santa Claus at this Christmas.

Anyway Remained parts:

1 4in gun : finalizing in design
2 Quadruple Cal 50 MG : Now considering how we realize odd axis of Muzzle with main gun.... and new design resin part for ammunition.
3 Up launcher : Consideing what is the best for realizing.
4 Paravane : small modification from HMS Nelson's
5 Skylights, Hatches, Doors etc. on the main deck : it may need more information.
6 Boats : finalizing..
7 Wooden Deck :finalizing.
8 And some small accessories as Winches etc.

with these, over 95% of project is finalized.

And Instruction manual editing may take 2weeks.

I for one am just fine with waiting for a better set. If I just wanted to build the Hood already and didn't care about the best possible accuracy I would have bought the KA set and been several months into my build already. Good things come to those who wait! :thumbs_up_1:

Many thanks to Pontos and the HMS Hood association guys for their efforts. :worship_1: :worship_1:

Fully concur with Channell. My comment was just a poor attempt at humour. The people at Pontos
should be applauded from the rooftops for their patience and skill in producing what, i am sure, will
be a tour de force. All thanks too to Frank Alan and EJ. for their amazing research. For the record, I
pre-ordered my set some weeks ago and have been more than happy to wait. As a past purchaser of
Pontos products, i can attest to their premium quality.
