Where did you get Tom Pope's plans for the hangar? I wouldn't mind getting a set myself.Themongoose wrote: I used 0.080 for my deck and 0.030 for the bulkheads. I picked up Tom Popes plans for the hangar bay and they were well worth it.

I downloaded these build photos a while back and lost track of the build thread. I believe they were from this site, can someone lead me to the thread please?
Thanks in advance.

@gjholmes77 & @Themongoose,
The Floating Drydock has that same single-page flight deck lighting diagram for the Enterprise for $0.75.
https://www.floatingdrydock.com/more.htm#FD
I wish I could find the original because the 75 cent one is in pretty bad condition. I redrew it in Visio so I could read it better, but I obviously can't publish something I purchased. If anyone knows where to get the originals, that would be great.

That would be by Alberto Hernandez Rubio, and he's posted it on Facebook (might be elsewhere on this forum as well, but would have to dig around): https://www.facebook.com/groups/2050407 ... 510443503/gistsc wrote:I downloaded these build photos a while back and lost track of the build thread. Re: Calling all USS Enterprise CVN-65 fans
Hello,
Just joined this group and my experience is only a 1/720 Nimitz from Italeri and a half finished 1/720 Enterprise from Revell. The latter one scrapped.
I'd like to switch to 1/700 and bought already Trumpeter's Nimitz and Constellation as well as Orange Hobby's Midway.
Is there any update on the 1/700 Dragon Enterprise?

So I'll have to stick with the Forces of Valor model.

On the other hand...
I'm thinking now of modifying the FoV/Unimax to the 1970s configuration.
Using the Revell island as a reference.
What do you think about this?

1/700 Enterprise Beehive Configuration
Hi,
Started some modifications on the Forces of Valor / Unimax / Waltersons USS Enterprise (see below).
Removed flight deck and island. Stripped island to basics to make the beehive design.
Does anyone have detailed dimensions of the island or even some CAD files?

1/700 Enterprise Beehive Configuration
No,
that should be 1/700. Haven't checked the dimensions though.
On Nov. 11 I posted a picture of the beehive design island by Revell next to the FoV, showing the difference in size.

Re: Calling all USS Enterprise CVN-65 fans
Greetings,
Is the Forces of Valor Enterprise a waterline kit? All of my 700 scale carriers are water line. It looks like you can tear it down pretty easily and kit bash it to a higher fidelity model carrier. I may have to try that.
Also, have you seen this island?
https://www.shapeways.com/product/2ABAQ ... arketplace
I asked the designer if he could make a 1/700 scale version of it.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Calling all USS Enterprise CVN-65 fans
Hi Mark,
Fortunately, the FoV model can be easily modified to waterline configuration.
The lower hull is fixed with 4 screws and the split is right above the black waterline. However you have to cut the screw bosses flush.
Separating the deck is easy, as it's only glued at a few points, mainly at the beams next to the elevators. Separation of the island is more challenging.
If interested, I can show how the stuff is assembled and how to tear it down.
A big advantage of the new revision by Waltersons is that they did not paint the medium grey color like upper hull, island, catwalks.
Regards,
Juergen

Hi Juergen,
Thanks for the update and pics. Looks like that kit may be a good substitute for the one Dragon promised and never delivered.
Thanks again,
Mark

Hi Juergen,
No reply from the designer. Perhaps you could start a thread and ask for a 1/700 sale Island as well. Perhaps two requests are more than twice as good???
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Calling all USS Enterprise CVN-65 fans
To all, who might plan to use the Forces of Valor stuff as a basis for a good model.
1. Used plastic material is much harder than standard Polystyrene. Maybe Polycarbonate. So it's hard to cut and some glues might not work properly.
2. The elevators do not align properly with the upper hull. So cutting out an elevator, you will need to do big modifications. See attached picture of removed No. 2 elevator.

Mark,
I did not get a reply from the designer as well.
If someone could give me detailed dimensions of the island, I would be able to do a 3D CAD model.
Especially the beehive and t-shaped antenna dimensions are important.
Thanks,
Juergen
