* The 5 "vents" that are located in the left side of this picture, which are behind the 15 cm turret (letter I above).
* The vents with hatches that are along the length of the superstructure.
* Large triangular vents on the stack
Dan
Thank you for your suggeswion.
All vents (missing or wrong shape) will be checked again.
Kim
The 5 vents (port and stbd.) need to be added, but the vents/hatches along the superstructure and stack are not all, or necessarily "wrong", as much as they need better detail, (though there are some mistakes). I can help you with a list and photographic references of all the missing and wrong vents on the model, if you wish. On a different note, I was critical of this basic set and I do apologize. I have built the catapult and the crane, and so far I am very happy with its fit and detail. I have not had the difficulty with the instructions as others have had, though, I do believe some notes would help. Thank you Kim for a job well done.

These instructions are a minefield in themselves!
Re top walkway on the funnel - although not shown on the funnel itself on page 7 of instructions it is on page 8 - middle of the five vertical strips of pictures and just over half way down.
We need to help each other a lot on finding things on this build, l searched for hours trying to find what part number 369, 370 were and where they went. Finally found them on page 7 but no indication of how they fold up but god bless Kagero 3D book as without this l would really be struggling. That book is answering many questions for me.
Alan
Thank you my friend I will have closer look so that means the doors on the search light housings need to be replicated

Re: Pontosmodel 1/200 Bismarck Detail Up Set
This is what I totally agree. It is very very difficult to follow the photos. In my view those are not actually instructions. For simple kits photos are good enough. But, for a set this complicated it is a torture for us to make guess on what to do. I think Eduard and WEM offer easy and understable instructions. GMM's instruction is relatively a bit difficult to follow. Ponto's is a complete guess. Although we are experienced we do like to build the model with your set in a more easy way, so we could concentrate more on doing research, or painting the model, or whatever. Having a easy and understable instruction also promote sale of the set. Just my two cents.amiers wrote:Indeed i think its time to rethink your instruction sheets Mr Kim. i have used your sets a lot and struggle every time.

So what about the hull bottom? Anybody want to tackle after market details for that? Some very interesting threads about it on this site and it would appear totally ignored by the manufacturers.

I also agree that our instructions are some harder sections to analyze and follow to your work.
And there are some missing directions though we tried not to have these.
As for the previous projects we have updated with correction of PDF file.
We will try to show more improvement for next projects.
And if you have any question, just contact us via email or this forum.
Thank you
Kim

But surely Pontos have covered these as etched parts are supplied for all grills (page 2, bottom right hand side of downloadable instructions) even down to drilling jig to correct holes for GHG.Mike Coleman still wrote:So what about the hull bottom? Re: Pontosmodel 1/200 Bismarck Detail Up Set
Just a little extra for people that haven't got the detail set yet to show the efforts that Pontos have gone to - I've just found that even the blast bags for the main guns are different for left and right (sorry - port and starboard) sides !!!!
Again Kim well done. We will overcome the instructions as from my own experience instructions are harder and more expensive to do than production of parts (and never correct in every-bodies eyes) - pictures, pictures and more pictures with yet more pictures as they cover all languages, just need lots thought and studying before use of items.
Please keep up the good work and whatever comes will be added to the stash for future use rest assured.

The etched parts or grills are done by both Pontos and Modelschaltshiffe (the later I have been told being more in scale according to plans but not confirming this at all and open to discussion on the subject) as for the keel and the keel docks plus the area around the propellers it would be interesting to see a resin addition here but would be hard to do

When I refer to the hull bottom I am talking about the changes/ additions represented by the work found on this thread, which to me is outstanding:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=57213
Certainly resin parts for the dock keels and to correct the housing for the center prop would be nice as well as a template for the drain holes above the boot topping and for proper location of the degausing cable (if we can get people to agree on it!) would be pretty cool.
After all, we are getting parts for control sticks for the 1/200 scale Ar-196 cockpit but ignoring a major area in need of detail.
And speaking of the Ar-196, has anybody done a little radial engine drop in for the plane's engine cowling? I know someone does one for the 1/350 kits.

Kim, There are some missing parts on the crane, that should be considered.
* the "roller" near the pulleys on the end of the boom
* the light near the end of the boom
* a large roller near the lower pulleys
I have a couple of good pics in two books, as soon as I get home I will reference them.

Re: Pontosmodel 1/200 Bismarck Detail Up Set
Kim,
You were asking for ideas for your advanced set.
Well, why not consider doing a full set of windows for the ship, including
1) All main superstructure windows particularly the bridge,
2) All boat windows for launches
3) Windows for the Arado's.
And possibly lenses for the rangefinders?
You could make these mostly very easily with punches using basic clear laminating card.
I don't think many PE manufacturers include these details so this would be another key
unique selling point for your kit!
Regards
Pete

Kim, I just got the basic set that came out and I want to say you did a very good job at it. I am waiting for you to come out with your advance set before I start my Bismarck. Dan

Yep again I m sorry not to show with many detailed photos for our instruction.alang wrote:Just a little extra for people that haven't got the detail set yet to show the efforts that Pontos have gone to - I've just found that even the blast bags for the main guns are different for left and right (sorry - port and starboard) sides !!!!

It is a fact that our sets have more extra details than we've shown on the mnuals or open photos.
But it also is a fact that you need study and think much enough before applying though manufacturers should describe or show all of these. But when you have any question just conetct me via this site or Email.
And also we will update the correction manual file continuously.
Thank you
Kim

I would try to design the additional parts on the Advanced set as many as possible though this means making higher the final price of this set.Pete_G wrote:Kim,

The best way is to show us any photo or diagram via email or this post thread with comments.aMainly because although we have already many photos or references but we may need the confirmation for the location or right shape.

Kim are you looking or thinking of adding the dock keels and correction to the propeller area into the advanced set in resin. That is a big mission to undertake but would add a new meaning to Advanced detail set

Please show me what is problem in Trumpeter kit with real photos.
I will find the best way for effective correction though all can't be realized at Advanced set.
Thank you

You may find the problems with the hull well-covered in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=146838
You can decide whether it's possible at all to fix any of them by simply including resin additions.

As for this matter, I am sure this need modeler's own Creativity rather than Aftrmarket part.
