Pontosmodel 1/200 Bismarck Detail Up Set

Has anyone mentioned PE porthole shields for the superstructure? Also I would like PE decks for the metal deck areas with the( -|- ) pattern molded onto the hull:



...as the mold lines show through and they will be a nightmare to fix; plus they would be useful in conjunction with a wooden deck to keep things "on the level".

This may be asking for too much and I won't need them myself but PE porthole replacements for the hull would be nice too. I am in the middle of replacing mine with new scratchbuilt portholes; the hull is too thick and scale too large to get effective portholes from just drilling them out plus many of the portholes are misshapen and warped from the molding process.

I am wandering if it is possible to reproduce the hull planking or at least the armor plates and main strakes as an option.

Not yet looked over the hul plates.
But these may not be included at basic detail up set because the price range has been already determined..
As you mentioned as to advanced option if designed.

Hi Kim,

One thing just came up to my mind, at such big scale, would it be possible that the railings are of stanchions and we put thread through the holes on the stanchions to make railings ? It is like those in Revell's Fletcher Class destroyer.

Hi Kim, one more thing. What about a full list of all the parts (PE, turned copper, resin, etc. ). I am doing the New Jersey with your set but I found it a bit difficult to follow. If there is a full parts list, sorted in different steps, it sure would aid idiot like me to follow better.

I understand there are so many PE parts to find because we also need much time to do

We 've listed on the manual the Turned Brass parts and Resin parts though it is practically impossible the PE part list.
But we try to collect PE parts at same area of PE frets.

knowing the price and release date would be really helpful. I'm not willing to pay the amounts being asked from the other supplier and depending on the price of this product I might just do it out of the box. The kit was already way too much money for me, it will be months before I eat again !!!

O.K. Releasing date maybe Late January or Early February.

We can't anounce the retail price excatly yet because we have not finazlized PE contents and turned brass parts not determined. Especially Veteranmodel has been working Water Blastbag resins, so this resin cost is also not determined yet.
But we are trying to make the retail price of this set as 160USD though 10USD or slightly much more can be added or reduced based on resulting contents.
Sorry for the high retail price range. but please understand this is 1/200 BB not 1/350...

thats not to bad dollar/pound conversion that will be �99.57 but i bet they will just change the dollar sign for a pound sign.
so it wont be any cheeper than buying it from overseas
how can they do that and get away with it

I have an idea for you on how to replicate the rivet and plate detail on the hulls of ships.

Would it be possible to use rub down decals the same way Archer do for AFV modelers?

I�m currently building Dreadnought using one of your sets and cannot find suitable reference for the hull plating, the thought of being able to purchase such detail would be appealing. I have also noticed that the builders of the Trumpeter 200th scale Bismarck have been lamenting about the lack of this type of detail.

Also another idea, as you produce the wood veneer decks could it be possible to use the same technique to produce deck masks? A single mask to cover an entire area of deck to allow airbrushing of deck fittings is, again, very appealing.

I juust read the previous post and thought I'd link you to a supplier of said rivets. The first part of the page is all about 1/48 aircraft sets, the second part is their "free lines" range.

I have the 1/32 free lines set for model aircraft and can inform you that each rivet is approx. 0.3mm� and spaced 0.75mm apart. Each line is spaced approx 4mm apart.

Sorry for piping in here, but i just wanted to make you all aware of this new product. I haven't tried them myself as yet, but I am reliably informed by the aircraft model fraternity that they are very good. The only caveat with these is they MUST go on to a primer coat, preferably mr surfacer, and must NOT be used directly on plastic or resin.

If you buy it from Lucky Model then it will be in US dollars and free shipping!
The only problem is HM Revenue and Customs may set ParcelForce onto you and then you have to pay the Import Duty and a fee to PF for being so kind as to deliver the parcel. The fee is really for them collecting the duty on behalf of HMRC but I couldn't avoid being a bit snarky.
